If You Want Something Done, Make Sure That You Ask A Busy Person!
|
It may sound strange but energetic people achieve their goals, they get things done, they take action and make it work.
So start saying YES!
Say it with smiling eyes and in a positive mental and physical state. Too often people are hesitant to say ‘yes’. They're afraid they will commit themselves to taking on endless extra work. But you don't have to do that. For example, you can say,
"Yes, I'd love to help you and here's how I might be able to do that" or "Yes, I'd love to help you, so lets talk about what I’m able to commit to at this time."
By changing that initial internal response from 'I can't be bothered' to 'Bring it on!' you're infusing yourself – and others - with positive energy. Even if you can't help, by indicating a willing attitude you're demonstrating positive energy.
By meeting every task with an energetic "Yes!" the drudgery falls away and by raising a smile your mood automatically lightens. By lifting your energy to a positive place, others follow and things get done. Bingo!
REMEMBER: When you bring energy and enthusiasm to your tasks, others will, too. Your response will fuel enthusiasm, and the job becomes much easier. Positive energy inspires others; negative energy brings them down. It's also more fun being with people who approach life with positive energy
TECHNICAL STUFF: Breath! Most of us don’t breathe properly and so we lack energy, our brains become sluggish and we fell tired and demotivated.
Try the exercise below whenever you feel this way and you will see a marked improvement in no time. Drink more water, if you feel tired or hungry drink something before you eat – you will immediately feel revitalized. Eat fresh, seasonal, wholesome foods as it’s the foods you eat that reflect your attitude and feelings about your body and state of mind. Take care of yourself. You're the only one you've got!
TIP: Get physical! Take a walk, go for a bike ride, swim, dance, sing. The energy that you gain from taking positive, energetic action is engaging. It wakes your brain, your body is rejuvenated and you will feel invigorated, which all helps to tackle those tasks with enthusiasm.
WARNING: Unfocused energy leads to chaos. So you need to keep focused and direct your energy to achieve your goals.
FINALLY: When your day's over and you have a chance to rest and reflect, the sense of fulfillment that you experience from meeting the day's challenges with positive energy, combined with a genuine tiredness from living an active life, will help you sleep better and wake with even more energy!
Exercise: The power of vital breathing:
Undoubtedly, the most important component to human health and vitality is oxygen. Breathing properly will revitalise you and help you to concentrate as well as help you to deal with the days stresses and anxieties.
Your diaphragm is what propels your breath.
Your shoulders should be wide and held back but not tense of stiff. Your shoulders should not move through the power breathing exercise.
Your stomach should be moving in and out - NOT your chest.
1. Stand feet hip wide apart.
2. Place one hand on your stomach.
3. As you count to 8 (in your head) breathe in through your nose, push your stomach out to allow the tummy muscles to move and your lungs to fill completely
4. Hold for 32 seconds
5. Exhale slowly through your mouth to a count of 16, completely empty your lungs.
Take 10 power breaths 3 times a day, particularly if you are stressed or nervous.
Don’t worry if you feel a little light headed when you first start this routine, this is because your body isn’t used to such a hit of oxygen! It will stop happening the more you use the technique and you will feel an immediate benefit.
Finally, listen to what Dr Andrew Weil has to say about the power of breath: “Improper breathing is a common cause of ill health. If I had to limit my advice on healthier living to just one tip it would be simply to learn how to breathe correctly. There is no single more powerful or more simple way to further your health and well being than to practice daily breathing.”
